Prizes

Classes 1 – 6 1st Prize £100, 2nd Prize £50, 3rd Prize £25

Classes 1- 4 1st Prize receives perpetual trophy and replica to keep.

Classes 1-6 will be eligible for the Jo Thompson Memorial SUPREME CHAMPION TROPHY

All entrants will receive a participation certificate.

*All performance groups will have the opportunity to perform at the Millennium Mosaic, on carnival day in the lead up to the procession

      This year’s Carnival aims to celebrate everyone in our community … the amazing, diverse, vibrant personalities, whatever their age, that go to make up the unique mix that is Barnstaple!

      Moving forward, there will be 6 members of Carnival Royalty consisting of 2 people from each age group (listed below) … chosen to ride in the official Carnival Carriage at the head of the procession and to represent the town at other events throughout the year. In line with the Equality Act 2010, everyone over the age of four is welcome to apply, regardless of disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, race, or ethnicity.

        Carnival Royalty Application Rules

        1. The closing date for all applications is Sunday 25th August 2024

        2. Participants must reside within the postal districts of Barnstaple

        3. Two people from each age group will be selected. Everyone over the age of four is welcome to apply. In line with the Equality Act 2010, they will be judged regardless of gender identity, disability, religion, race, nationality, ethnic or national origin, sexual orientation or marital status.

        4. Contestants will be selected based on their answers regarding their pastimes, passions, ambitions, and, where relevant, their involvement in charity and volunteer activities.

          I/We agree to allow my/our child, to take part in the Barnstaple Carnival Royalty Contest and understand the judge’s decision is final.

          I/We further agree to accompany them and let them attend Barnstaple Carnival functions including travelling to represent Barnstaple Carnival at other events throughout the year.

          I/We also agree to let their photograph, name and age be published to promote Barnstaple Carnival either through the official website or any
          other websites considered appropriate by the Barnstaple Carnival Management Team.

          Once your application has been processed, you will receive an acknowledgement letter to confirm your place in the contest. Contestants will be asked about their hobbies, interests, and goals. If applicable to their age, they will also be asked about any charitable and voluntary work they have done. The contest will take place the week of the of August on a date and at a location that will be confirmed in writing to all contestants.
