Times for judging for the main procession will commence at 4.00pm – Trophies and Certificates will be handed out by judges.

• Vehicles must be in place (Castle Street & North Walk) for directions and to organise form up
• Walking Characters to report to the Old Railway Station area of The Strand

Class 1. Junior Organisations – Including vehicle
Majority of participants under 16. Must be accompanied by a vehicle or float.

Class 2. Charitable Organisations – Including vehicle
Registered charities only. Must be accompanied by a vehicle or float.

Class 3. Floats, Vehicles, Other
Entrants welcome from groups and individuals, all you need is to be on (or carrying) your ‘vehicle’.

Class 4. Carnival Royalty
We welcome all of the neighbouring Carnival Royalty to join our procession.

Class 5. *Trade Entries
All businesses and commercial organisations are welcome to join in the fun!
There is a £50.00 entry fee for class 5 – maximum 2 vehicles per entry. Additional vehicles £25 each.

Class 6. Majorettes & Cheerleaders & Walking Characters
Majorettes & Cheerleaders will be invited to complete a display prior to the carnival procession at approx 4.00pm.  Please let us know if you wish to participate.  For the 2022 Carnival the displays will take place on the Millenium Mosaic area on The Strand.  Troupes / Squads may use their own music equipment or bring their music for North Devon Public Address to play.

1st. £100 cash prize, a Trophy that can be retained plus a certificate

2nd. £50 cash prize, plus a certificate

3rd. £25 cash prize, plus a certificate

Can children please present for judging by 2.45pm in the mosaic area outside the Queen Anne’s Cafe on the Strand. Judging for Children commence at 3.00pm prompt.

The form up area will be designated on The Strand, Barnstaple. The Carnival will move off at 3.30 pm from The Strand.

Class 1. Schools & Nurseries
Aged under 5 years, singles, pairs and groups welcome.

Class 2. Singles
Aged 5 – 11 years

Class 3. Pairs
Aged 5 – 11 years

Class 4. Groups
Aged up to 11 years, groups of 3 or more.

First prize trophy retained by winner

All entrants will receive a participator’s medal

Certificates will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd & Highly Commended in each class
